Ysemonique Thelesmon is a Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) at St. Therese Hospital and mother of three. One of eight siblings, her sister, Genette, is also an SBA (and preceptor at our training program). When these sisters were young, they attended births with their mother, a Traditional Birth Attendant, in their community.  “That’s how I became passionate about working with moms and babies,” she says.

Ysemonique went to nursing school and then trained to become an SBA with us in Hinche to gain more skills. Now, she provides quality maternal care to the women and infants of her community and manages about 165 births annually. Her monthly salary is $320, and her annual salary (including the customary holiday bonus) is $4120.

Ysemonique says, “There is a lot of postpartum hemorrhage here and there are not enough people working at the hospital. There is a lack of staff for the number of people we care for. My job is important because I’m taking care of my own family but also providing care to the community.”

Join Team Ysemonique… If 23 sponsors contribute $15 monthly, Ysemonique’s salary will be paid and she can keep doing this important work!

As her contributing sponsor, your donation will go directly to Ysemonique. You will also receive a tax-deductible receipt, a photo and thank you letter from Ysemonique,  and bi-monthly email updates on her work.

Below you will find the donation button (you’ll be directed to Ysemonique’s support form and can pay with your debit/credit card).  There are three ways to contribute:
