Dear Ones,
A giant thank you to those of you who have given during this first week of our campaign, shared our content on social media, or sent positive thoughts, energy, and prayers. Asking for help is awkward. Asking for financial help is difficult. But it is a fact of life that non-profits run on dreams, vision, inspiration, and money.
Our biggest expense is salaries. Our staff is our family, and they are at the heart of all that we do. Without our dedicated team, there would be no MFH. There would be no kind compassionate care, care which has saved the lives of thousands of women and babies.
I am often asked how much it costs to run Midwives for Haiti. And of course, the answer is a lot! Our average monthly expenses run approximately $60,000. That is every single month, and many times it is more. All it takes is a gasoline shortage, or the Haitian gourde to rise even further (inflation is over 20% here in Haiti!), and our budget can easily take a giant unexpected hit.
The best way to help is with a monthly gift. Salaries are paid every month, so knowing we have those regular donations coming in means I can breathe easy. $500 per month will cover a midwife’s salary. Soon we will be hiring four new team members to staff our birth center, which of course will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Won’t you please consider a monthly gift to pay these vital professionals? Do you belong to a book club or knitting group and you would like a worthy project to sponsor as a group? Maybe your place of worship or community orchestra is looking to spread some love in this world? Giving together is an inexpensive way of making your donations go as far as possible. And of course, we welcome this kind support from individuals as well!

Thank you for your trust over the past 16 years. With your help, we can continue to grow, always keeping the families we serve first in our minds and hearts.
Love always,
