CLINICAL MANAGER

Hinche, Central Plateau, Haiti

About Midwives for Haiti

Midwives for Haiti (MFH) has spent two decades working to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in Haiti’s Central Plateau, one of the most underserved regions in the Western Hemisphere. We train, employ, and support Haitian midwives to provide skilled care across a network of facilities and community sites. Our model is built on the conviction that Haitian midwives, supported, resourced, and respected, are the key to lasting change in maternal health outcomes.

Our programmes include the Carrie Wortham Birth Centre, Kay Manman Yo (a high-risk maternal waiting home), Cornerstone clinics, a network of twelve mobile community clinics, a traditional birth attendant (Matwon) training programme, and Camp Clinic, serving internally displaced populations. In 2026, we celebrate our 20th anniversary, and we’re looking for a Clinical Manager to join us for the next chapter.

The Role

This is a leadership and mentorship position. The Clinical Manager provides clinical oversight, quality assurance, and capacity-building support to a team of 28 Haitian midwives working across all MFH programme areas. While some hands-on clinical work is involved, the heart of this role is strengthening and supporting the team, not replacing them. The person who thrives here is someone who is energised by developing others, comfortable with clinical autonomy, and ready to work in a complex, resource-limited environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight and mentorship to 28 Haitian midwives across all MFH programme areas
  • Ensure quality of care and adherence to clinical protocols at the Carrie Wortham Birth Centre, Kay Manman Yo, Cornerstone clinics, twelve mobile community clinics, Camp Clinic, and the Matwon training programme
  • Lead continuing education, skills-building sessions, and case reviews for clinical staff
  • Support clinical programme development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Monitor programme data and outcomes, contributing to reporting and evaluation
  • Participate in hands-on clinical care as needed, including emergency obstetric response
  • Collaborate with programme and operations staff to ensure integrated service delivery
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative team culture

Qualifications

Required

  • Qualified midwife (CNM, CPM,CM, RM, or international equivalent). Physicians with obstetric experience and a strong commitment to the midwifery model of care will be considered
  • Minimum two years of clinical midwifery experience
  • Competency in basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care (BEmONC), including active management of third stage labour, neonatal resuscitation, and management of obstetric emergencies
  • Demonstrated ability to work with clinical autonomy in settings without immediate physician backup
  • Experience in mentorship, clinical teaching, or capacity building
  • Comfortable working and living in an ever-changing security environment
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a collaborative spirit

Highly Preferred

  • Previous experience working in low-resource or humanitarian settings
  • French or Haitian Kreyòl language skills (not required)
