Cloth Diapers for Hinche - Midwives For Haiti

Cloth Diapers for Hinche

Along with doing amazing midwifery and volunteer work the women that we come in contact with every day never cease to amaze us. In the center of our beautiful country of Haiti is Hinche with a population of about 50,000 where an amazing project began and continues to grow. Diane Mason says that she “was blessed to visit Midwives For Haiti in both July of 2014 and June of 2018”. Upon both of her visits she was able to be a part of a wonderful project called T-shirts-2-Diapers-2-Haiti. This is a project in which cotton t-shirts are cut and made into cloth diapers for babies in Haiti. Diane recalls that in 2014 several congregations of the Church of the Brethren created and delivered over 750 cloth diapers to the babies in Haiti. Upon going back in 2018 Diane says that there were over 1,260 cloth diapers sent to our mobile clinics via baby-packets.

Many of our volunteers have joined in on this amazing project and have traveled with suitcases full of hand-sewn cloth diapers to our mobile clinics in Haiti. In the photos you can see so many helpful hands cutting and sewing handmade cotton t-shirt cloth diapers. We have been so honored to be a part of this wonderful project and look forward to seeing the number of diapers transported grow as more people join in on this project. Thank you to the congregations at the Church of the Brethren and the Church of the Brethren National Youth Conference, to Diane and Rob Mason and to all of our wonderful volunteers who have made this project possible and so successful!
