Inspiration is Everywhere! - Midwives For Haiti

Inspiration is Everywhere!

Thank you so much to those of you who have contributed to our campaign so far! I’m delighted to say that we have met Dr. Edwin Wortham V’s $25,000 match to kickstart the construction of the new Carrie Wortham Birth Center! Your support means we will be able to begin building potentially in March!

However, this is merely a small part of this campaign, which is so important to our annual budget. Haiti was hit hard this year, possibly even more so than in 2020, so we need your support more than ever if we are to continue our programming. Even with this match, we are behind on our metrics compared to the second week of the 2020 campaign. Please consider a donation if you have not already contributed.

We hope you enjoyed the second in our “Intimate Conversations” series, hosted on Zoom by our own Community Engagement Specialist, Anna. Her chat with our inspirational founder Nadene gave us the historical context of Midwives for Haiti, and we learnt so much about the beginnings of our philosophy of compassionate community engagement through education. If you missed it, click here to view it on our youtube channel!

Along with being inspired by Nadene, we also introduced you to our matwon program. MFH runs five month training sessions for these traditional community birth attendants, and then supports them with a small training stipend and clean birthing supplies. These folks are the pillars of their communities, respected and sought for their traditional knowledge of childbirth and veterinary care. We always learn so much from our matwon colleagues and it is a pleasure to work with them.

We look forward to sharing even more with you in the weeks to come. Again, thank you for your interest, financial support, and for being a part of our family in 2021!

Love always,
