Big News: Wedding Bells + New Executive Director

You might have heard the beautiful news that our Executive Director, Nadene Brunk, and our Medical Director, Dr. Steve Eads, got married last week! Nadene and Steve have dedicated much of the past ten years to Midwives For Haiti, and somewhere along this journey, they fell in love! It was a gorgeous wedding of two incredible people. We couldn’t be happier for their loving union.

As Nadene and Steve plan their life together, they will be stepping back from Midwives For Haiti. As much as we will miss their leadership, we are so happy to imagine these love birds caravanning the United States in an RV, picking up grandkids as they go.

Nadene has built MFH from the ground up and we owe our successes to her vison and determination. It’s not a surprise then that letting go is difficult and “retirement” is not a popular word in these parts. To be clear, Nadene and Steve will still be involved in MFH on the Board of Directors. In other words, they won’t be driving the bus but they’ll be somewhere in the back seat.

We are thrilled to announce that Jessica Jordan, CNM, will step into the role of Executive Director. Jessica, a Richmond midwife for 22 years, is committed to our mission and has served as a volunteer on our Board of Directors since day one, playing an active role in our operations and decision making. Jessica was also our Board Treasurer and has travelled to Haiti annually for the past decade and knows our programs, our staff, our challenges and our triumphs from the inside out.

Nadene and Jessica will spend the next several months working closely together and the reins will officially be handed to her in the new year. We are confident that this will be a smooth and successful transition and a fabulous new chapter for Midwives For Haiti.

If you’d like to send her a message of welcome, please email Jessica at jjordan@midwivesforhaiti.org.

As always, we are so grateful for your continued support. Thank you!
